September Update and Big News…

Hello Friends,

I hope you had a colorful and restorative summer! My summer felt marked by creating custom designs, welcoming three newborns into my family, a few road trips to the east coast, and getting to know my neighbors as we gardened together. Summer has always been my favorite season because it’s always felt the most lively to me. But last autumn and winter I noticed such beautiful flora and colors in nature all around me that I somehow never saw before. I’m seeing the goldenrods popping again now and I feel energized by it...I am looking forward to opening my eyes up to the newfound beauty again (“new” to me, apparently) in these upcoming months.

Exciting news! Harkin’s studio is moving from the spare room in my home to 78th Street Studios in Gordon Square! I am sharing a space with my friend Whitney of WAR Interiors. We created a space together called Antonym Collective—a space that expresses both of our businesses, creativity, and stories. We will work there as well as have a showroom/shopping area. We are celebrating our grand opening this Friday from 5-9pm and we will be open every Third Friday of the month throughout the year during the open studio time with the rest of the businesses in the building. Earthen + Goose will be popping up in our studio for the event selling her gorgeous ceramic creations as well as a new collection inspired by Wabi-Sabi. Come stop by! (Antonym Collective is in the lower ramp of 78th Street Studios—enter through the main entrance, go down stairs, make the first right, we are the first open studio in the left)

For this first Third Friday I will have some products on display and some products to shop from as well. A few of the products aren’t on my website yet so you’ll get a first look and opportunity to place an order in person.

Gift shopping is right around the corner, and I’ve noticed that quite a large percentage of Harkin custom designs and ready designs have been commissioned as a gift to someone. Since I’m a one woman show and make most things to order I would highly recommend placing an order sooner rather than later if you want to be able to have the Harkin product wrapped pretty for the holidays.

Lastly, I am hosting a Leather Patch Workshop! I am so grateful and excited to have this new space to be able to host events and welcome community engagement. This Workshop is like a mending workshop but specializing in adding a leather patch to your garments. Two of my favorite winter coats have holes in the elbows so that’s what I’ll be adding patches to, personally. This Workshop is a perfect opportunity for folks out there who have never sewn but want to learn! RSVP is required, reserve your spot here.

Hope to see you soon!

Gratefully,

Courtney
