Winter Beachwear
Hello friends,
I’ve been working in the new studio, Antonym Collective, at 78th Street Studios for over a month now and I am so thankful for this space! It’s spacious, colorful, and lively. Leann, of Clash, moved her shop in for the rest of the year, so now there are three of us sharing a work space. Getting to work while Whitney and Leann are there is so much fun…
One design I’m very excited to introduce to you is the Cradle Bucket Bag. I wanted to create a bucket bag where the drawstrings don’t slide through holes in the leather, like they traditionally do. I’ve been thinking about this for a few months. I don’t know why I started thinking about it but I just felt curious and intrigued by the idea and I wanted to explore construction methods to accomplish this.
I also wanted it to be the perfect size for going out to dinner—to just carry your essentials—phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses. I wanted to be able to wear it crossbody, on my shoulder or around my wrist like an old fashion coin purse. The construction of the drawstring came to me, and then the whole vision of the bag came to me. So I drew it…
Once I made the body of the bag, I felt like the tassels weren’t right for it, so I’m holding off on that right now but want to come back to it for a different version. I’m so pleased with how it came out. It feels like a piece of art on your side. I’m totally in love with her <3
This Winter, I present to you: Beachwear. This is the Winter Beach Treasure Hat. I saw a 1950’s knitting pattern that wrapped around the crown of your head like this and I thought it would function really great in leather. I had dead stock Hair-on-Hide that was the perfect match for the design. It has truly been the joy of my life to witness others try it on and watch them feel transformed into more magical versions of themselves.
This hat can be worn as is or adorned with your own treasures, making it custom to you. I went for a walk at the beach and found some shells I was originally going to add to my hat. Instead, I added shark teeth found by Mark down in Florida, pictured below.
I’m ready to feel fabulous outside this winter. It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot the past few winters, Clevelander’s tend to hide inside during the cold months, but I want to embrace the cool quiet air more regularly this winter. So, I’ll see you at the beach!
Holiday gifting season is upon us! I’ve got a few new things I’m adding to my Ready Design Shop. I wanted to get some items that are under $100 for some accessible gifting. I currently have two keychain designs available. The Two Tone Keychain and the Solid Keychain (monograming available on that one). I wanted to design a keychain that felt special when I pulled it out. I’m a sucker for two tone leather and clean seams…
I only show my main color collection on the product pages but I have quite a full collection in studio, including multiple colors of Traceable Ostrich! A few folks have come into the studio lately to look at the leather options in person for their new Harkin product. If you’d be interested in viewing leather options for your Harkin product you can email me and book a visit or I can mail you swatches.
To view the products in person along with even more new products that nobody has seen yet, there are two opportunities to visit me this weekend as well as most weekends through the rest of the year! Below is a breakdown of events, visit my events page for more details :)
